Mission Statement/Purpose
The Funeral Care Team works with the priests and pastoral staff to accompany families in planning funeral liturgies.
Major Accomplishments
We provide pastoral support for families who have just experienced the death of a loved one. This includes helping plan the funeral mass, being present at funerals, and sometimes providing some follow up bereavement support.
Meeting Frequency
We usually have about 3 funerals each month. Funerals are usually on weekday mornings and sometimes on Saturdays. Family preparatory meetings can be at times of mutual convenience with the priest and family.
Meeting Venue
Parish Center meetings rooms or the sanctuary
Estimated Time Commitment for Volunteers
Usually 5 hours/month; however, times are unpredictable so volunteers must be flexible and available during weekdays.
Special Skills
Comfortable around grief; organized; peaceful demeanor; compassionate; good communicator via phone, email, and in-person.
