PORCH PORCH is an all-volunteer, grassroots hunger relief organization whose mission is to collect and distribute food for families going hungry in the Chapel Hill and Carrboro community. Through monthly neighborhood food drives, PORCH stocks the shelves of eight local food pantries with canned goods. Its Food for Families program delivers fresh fruits and vegetables, milk, ground beef and eggs directly into the hands of over 250 local families in need. And this fall, PORCH added the Food for Schools program which provides each of the schools in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro district with healthy snack foods. PORCH will use the proceeds from this event to continue it's work to put food directly into the hands of those in need in our community.
Chapel Hill Service League The Chapel Hill Service League is a women's organization committed to serving our community, by focusing on issues concerning women and children. The women of the Chapel Hill Service League donate over 6,000 hours of volunteer time per year. The Chapel Hill Service League's portion of the proceeds will help support Christmas House and several other essential projects and programs in our community. Christmas House is the Chapel Hill Service League's signature annual community project. For more than 50 years, this event has helped to make the holidays brighter for local, financially challenged families. Parents and guardians of 800 children are invited to select new toys, books, and coats for their families. The joy this provides the parents is immeasurable and makes gift giving more meaningful.
