Mission Statement/Purpose
To serve Christ who is present in the assembly by ministering His Body and Blood to their sisters and brothers and by taking Communion to those members who, through sickness, old age, or other causes, are prevented from taking part in the Mass.
Major Accomplishments 2023-2024
On September 30, 2023, all trained Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion gathered in the main church for a retreat. The purpose of the retreat was to re-train current ministers about the procedure for reintroducing the community to the distribution of the Blood of Christ at our Masses. We returned to distributing both the Blood and Body of Christ at all weekend Masses the weekend of October 8, 2023. Because of the need for many additional positions of service each weekend, we continue to offer periodic trainings so that our community is fully served at all the Masses.
Major Activity
Training sessions are held three times a year and are always announced in advance in the weekly bulletin.
Meeting Frequency
Because this ministry functions at Masses, there are no outside meetings.
Meeting Venue
Activities occur at the Church during Masses.
Estimated Time Commitment for Volunteers
Varies by Mass, depending upon the number of volunteers at that time slot; in general, ministers are assigned once every two to four weeks.
Special Skills
Reverence for the Holy Eucharist, and a desire to share in the distribution of Christ's Body and Blood.
