The Pope
Why do Catholics have a Pope? Is the Pope infallible? Catholics look to the Pope as the central figure of leadership and unity. The Pope together with the Bishops from around the world form the teaching body of the Church, known as the Magisterium. To date, there have been 266 Popes beginning with Peter and succeeding to our present Pope Francis.
Mary
How does the Catholic faith view Mary? Catholics do not worship Mary. Catholics venerate or honor Mary, the Saint, the Blessed Virgin Mother of God. We truly understand that Mary is an exemplary saint, but not divine. Catholics pray to Mary and to all the saints for intercession to the Father on our behalf.
