The Sacrament of Marriage
Catholics understand sacramental marriage as a covenant between a husband and wife into which they invite God as a constitutive person. A wedding is a celebration which establishes this three-way bond. The Diocese of Raleigh requires that the pastor be contacted six months before the proposed wedding date in order that adequate time may be scheduled to complete the marriage preparation program. Those seeking to be married at St. Thomas More are encouraged to contact the office at 919.942.1040 at least nine months in advance in order to secure their preferred date and time and to begin preparation for the celebration of the
Sacrament of Marriage.
Marriage Preparation & Scheduling a Wedding Date
Please contact the parish office at least nine months before your proposed date of marriage to select a wedding date and/or begin marriage preparation.
St. Thomas More uses a sponsor couple program to help couples preparing for marriage. Together with a sponsor couple with whom you will be paired, you and your fiancé will spend time working through For Better and For Ever: A Resource for Couples Preparing for Christian Marriage.
