Chapel Hill/Carrboro CROP Hunger Walk: Members solicit donations, recruit walkers and fundraisers, and sell T-shirts to support the local Inter-Faith Council and the global programs of Church World Service. Team leaders also participate in CROP Hunger Walk Planning Committee meetings in the months leading up to the annual event. Contact: Carol Prokop
Food Donations: The committee promotes year-round donations of food and personal care items from parishioners for the InterFaith Council Food Pantry. The donations are collected, sorted, and delivered weekly by committee members. The IFC reports that our parish contribution is generally about 20% of their total weekly collection from the community. Volunteers are needed to sort and deliver the donations. Contact: Carol Jakub

Sponsor Migrant Worker Outreach Work with other St Thomas More ministries to collect toiletry items donated by St. Thomas More parishioners every summer (June, July, and August) that are delivered to a local clinic in cooperation with Catholic Charities and distributed to migrant workers in North Carolina fields. Recruit volunteers and support all the Outreach Committee activities and events.
Determine the distribution of St Thomas More's charity budget to over 30 organizations and agencies that provide for the poor and needy in our community and beyond.
Meeting Frequency
The Outreach Committee meets virtually on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm via Zoom. Additional meetings may be scheduled for the annual activities and events.
Meeting Venue
Monthly meetings are held virtually. Additional planned activities dictate appropriate meeting/working venues.
Estimated Time Commitment for Volunteers
One 90 minute meeting per month and participation in one or two of the Committee's annual activities and events.
Special Skills
None are needed; Members need only an interest in helping those in need.
