Barbara Anne Copeland is originally from New York, but migrated to Durham, NC at the age of 12. She has lived most her life in Durham and considers it her home. She currently works as an administrator, owner, and operator of Ramsgate Family Care Home. Barbara began caring for her mother and sister and eventually opened up a family care home where she could care for her family and others who unable to care for themselves. She was raised in the Baptist Church, but in her adult years Barbara gravitated to the United Methodist Church. She has an undergraduate degree in Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MDiv. from Emory University, Candler School of Theology. In seminary school, she encountered studies of the early church fathers and women saints, and it was there where Barbara became attracted to the Catholic faith. What attracts Barbara most about the Catholic faith is a level of reverence felt in the Catholic Liturgy; Barbara says she feels “…a closeness, a oneness, and a belonging to God when I attend the Catholic Church.”
