Nathan is originally from Greensboro, NC and has been a parishioner at St. Thomas More parish for 5 years. Nate is currently a doctoral candidate at Duke University studying the theology and literature of early Christians in Iraq and southern Turkey during the 7th century. Nathan has been Catholic for 7 years, and RCIA has continued to be an important part of his own faith journey. He grew up in a low-church protestant Christian tradition, but became interested in the Catholic Church as he discovered the richness of its faith in Christ. He found not only that Catholics have a deep history of theological reflection on the meaning of Christ that stretches back to the apostles, but also a wealth of practices of prayer and worship that have supported Christians in their encounter with God across the centuries. Through RCIA, Nate says that “I was able to have initial encounters with this theology, practice, and history, and RCIA planted many seeds that have continued to grow as I try to live out my own faith.”
