I am Nery Urrutia, I am from El Salvador and came to the United States in 1998. I came with the idea of the “American dream” but God’s ways are different than ours and in January of 2004 I entered the Claretian Religious Seminary, known as Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in Chicago, IL. During this time I became involved in an English ESL program, completing it in the spring of 2006. Later, in the fall season of the same year, I was accepted at St. Xavier University where I was taking a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies with concentrations in Philosophy and religion. In 2011, I left the seminary and got married and now we have two children, who are an inspiration for me to keep going in life and where ever God leads me.
